Lt. Gov. Judith Guichon”s visit was the highlight of our end-of-year luncheon. Red and white dominated the room–geraniums, Canadian flags and a delicious dessert, all in celebration of Canada’s 150th. Fourth year graduates–Leslie Bishop, Marie Boudreau, Joan Davies, Joan Dick, Gayle Paterson, Patti Shaughnessy, Maureen Vandenberg and Jo-Ann Zador–were honoured along with the 35 conveners who organized activities throughout the year: everything from mahjong, book clubs, pub nights, bridge, golf to cooking workshops and walking groups.

The Lt. Governor outlined her commitments to celebrate Canada’s birthday. In particular she was visiting 150 schools across the province to explain some of the country’s history and to promote the importance of literacy. She visited each table and made time to talk to as many newcomers as possible.Credit and thanks go to Bev Bailey for organizing such a wonderful event. Our next luncheon is set for September when the new executive is in place.
