A dozen newcomers gathered round a table recently to discuss–and taste–their favourite summer treat. They may be new to Victoria but they all knew where to find the best of the best of their delicious product–ice cream. Brands that were shared included: Fiasco (from Chilliwack), Parachute, Cold

Comfort, Spinnakers, Salt Spring, 49 Below and more. And the flavours were deliciously diverse: whiskey walnut, strawberry rhubarb, coffee, several versions of salted caramel (one was vegan), cardamon, cinnamon nut, chocolate (with cookie mixed in), buttered nut, lemon cream, and Black Crow Espresso. Each participant had a fact sheet about ice cream, a copy of the original vanilla ice cream recipe created by US President Jefferson. And finally, to complete the process–an evaluation form that rated the ice creams from 1 (crappy) to 10 (absolutely fantastic). Lemon Cream from Parachute won out. The host notified the business. The reply:”That’s because of all the love we put into our products.” Anyone needing ice cream (the remains of several types) should contact the host. Unfortunately, she wishes to remain annonymous.
