Build relationships through various activities in your new hometown.

Victoria Women’s Newcomers Club (VWNC)is a volunteer organization that offers those new to the city an opportunity to get involved. You’ll build friendships and gain a better understanding of your community through social, cultural and outdoor activities.

From heritage tours, to golf, and outdoor adventures to book clubs, art in the city, and walking groups, our members explore new passions and discover new opportunities. And some, such as appetizer evenings and pub nights, welcome partners. (See Activities for a complete list of opportunities – we are confident there is something for everyone.)

One of the most important events the club hosts is its Women’s Luncheon at the historic Union Club, just steps away from the inner harbour. It’s held on the first Thursday each month (September to June) and in addition to great food, it features a variety of guest speakers. It is the perfect venue for our members to come together – to catch up with ‘old’ friends and meet new ones.

So whether you join us for a luncheon or decide to become a member today, we look forward to meeting you!

What our members are saying:

Moving to Victoria has been a seamless and easy adjustment for me.  Joining Newcomers and getting to know women in the same position made the world of difference.  Building your new friendships through fun activities and lunches was a no brainer!! Thank you, ladies.

Retiring and moving to a new city was daunting. Finding VWNC was exactly what I needed! It gave me social time to meet people, activities to keep me busy, and by working on the executive, that sense of purpose I was missing. I will always be grateful.

Moving to a new city can be a bit overwhelming, but meeting with people that are all in the same boat made it fun. Discovering what Victoria has to offer together and meeting others through favorite activities has set the foundation for life long friendships. Feeling very thankful.

It was tough moving to Victoria, knowing almost no-one. Discovering the VWNC was a godsend,  and so was discovering it is full of friendly, kind and interesting women. Thank you VWNC!

After being the new person in town, due to the many moves in my life, I accidentally stumbled on VWNC when moving to Victoria. I can honestly say it was a game changer.  I have formed amazing friendships, and enjoy so many of the wide range of activities offered.  No lonely days ever!

VWNC is a lovely bunch of ladies who organize lots of fun activities. I was originally just looking for a women’s book club. Now I’m hiking, kayaking, cycling, watching movies, dining and exploring Victoria with these women!
